I would love to visit the house as a museum! I worked in a historic mansion in Savannah, GA, and love to visit those sorts of historic sites.

If there were a truely literary landmark that needed preserving, surely Undershaw is it. Best wishes from this Conan-Doyle fan.

Undershaw MUST be preserved as the one time home of Mr Conan Doyle, to do anything else with it is serious folly, why lose what can be nothing other than an asset for this country with the potential to draw people from all over the world. Restore and preserve this lovely old building, it is part of our heritage.
I think it’s a wonderful idea to turn it into a museum. I know many people would go considering how many people are fans of Sherlock Holmes and all.

It’s shameful to allow living history to crumble away and to bring down living history to make way for things less inspired and less dear. The past deserves our attention, and we all deserve the chance to experience the past.
Conan Doyle’s work is a time-traveling phenomenon that we would not think of tearing up. We would not deny future generations the enjoyment of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson by scrapping them and replacing them with something else; they aren’t replaceable. Why, then, would we deny future generations the enjoyment of Conan Doyle himself? Why make the house in which he lived and wrote unavailable when it says (and has the capability to say more) so much about the writer?
Save Undershaw.

Totally support you in this endeavour; Edinburgh lost all its connections to ACD, hope you are able to save this and encourage other places with Conan Doyle connections to promote Sir Arthur!!
Arthur Conan Doyle is the creator one of the best characters in history and was a literary genius; without him we wouldn’t have BBC’s Sherlock or Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, not to mention the original novels, which are amazing. I don’t understand why Charles Dicken’s house or Emily Dickinson’s house could be preserved but not ACD’s. Sherlock Holmes is a very iconic character, and Undershaw was the place where many of the books in which he was a character in was written, as well as the place where many important events in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s life took place. Undershaw should be preserved.
Save Undershaw.

We definitely need to save this wonderful piece of history. How they could even think of destroying it in this way, I don’t know, and it absolutely horrific that they would even think to do it!
Now c’mon everyone! In the spirit of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes, let’s work together to save this historical piece of history!
