The Undershaw guest book was in the Christie’s auction of The Conan Doyle Collection on 19th May 2004. It was part of a ‘Lot’.

The book includes a number of familiar names, among them members of the family circle including Innes, the Hornungs, Wood, the Foleys, the Angells and the Oldhams, literary figures and associates including Sidney Paget, J M Barrie, Hesketh Prichard and Bram Stoker, and friends including Stratton and Clara Bulnois, James Ryan with his mother  (the other ‘Mam’) and wife, and Gordon Guggisburg. There are no entries for 1906, the year of Louise’s death; appropriately the last entries are for Jean Leckie (her first appearance), her brother Malcolm, her close friend Lily Loder-Symonds.

The auction was made possible by the family coming together after Dame Jean’s death.
